To qualify for this position at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the federal service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is executive assistant or secretarial level administration; managing calendars, taking/preparing minutes, coordinating travel, drafting correspondence, tracking actions, etc.; experience with customer/patient relations; strong computer skills including the use of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience managing funds and utilizing a purchase card; experience in timekeeping systems and procedures. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Responds to inquiries and administrative problems brought to Director by VA staff and others; Notifies appropriate staff of need for information and follows up to ensure timely response by others; Exercises control over appointments, with complete authority for commitments of time; Receives correspondence and replies to mail not requiring the Director's attention; Screens all correspondence prepared for the Director signature for clarity, completeness of reply, and grammatical and procedural correctness. Screens all calls and visitors and handles most business regarding established policies or routine matters; Plans and arranges for the preparation of information needed for budget reports; Arranges travel and conferences including developing information and materials used for conferences; Maintains leave and attendance records; Perform office automation work on personal computer utilizing multiple programs to complete documentation; Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
