For the GS-8: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as processing human resources personnel actions (e.g., appointments, separations, or promotions); reviewing personnel documents for accuracy and compliance; providing customer service on HR Recruitment processes; and using HR information systems to input, track, and retrieve data. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 8 level. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Coordinates pre-employment processes such as tentative offers, final offers, background investigation initiation, and new hire paperwork.
Assists in the preparation and processing of vacancy announcements.
Responds to routine employment inquiries regarding the status of recruitments, current vacancies, and pending personnel actions, providing information based on established guidance and available systems.
Codes and processes a variety of personnel actions including promotions, within-grade increases (WGIs), and other personnel transactions in accordance with established guidelines and compliance with the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions.
Assists in the maintenance and organization of merit promotion and delegated examining case files. Ensures case file materials are organized and properly maintained.
Provides support for assigned portions of programs with a limited scope. Programs may include, for example, the Pathways Program, Veterans’ recruitment initiatives, Schedule A appointments, and/or upward mobility programs.
