This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: - Knowledge of technical practices associated with repair and maintenance of heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment: utility systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems, features or controls; diesel, xnultifuel, gasoline, and turbine engines; and automatic, standard, and cross- drive transmission heavy duty drive line systems. - Skill in analyzing test results in order to locate improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement. - Knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operation, and working relationships of variety of heavy duty systems, assemblies, and parts, including major systems - Skill in troubleshooting entire electrical systems and related equipment, determining cause of malfunction, and making required repairs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will perform all maintenance functions required for all equipment and weapon systems processed through the Marine Depot Maintenance Command in support of several significant Marine corps wide programs.
You will service, inspect, maintain and repair/overhaul a variety of heavy mobile equipment (e.g., bulldozers, road graders, rollers, power shovels, mobile cranes, heavy combat equipment, missile transporters.
You will repair/overhaul at least one type of major system, i.e., diesel, multi-fuel, and gasoline engines (including supercharged and turbo-charged), automatic/non-automatic transmissions, and a variety of positioning systems.
You will troubleshoot, trace and locate defects and causes of mechanical problems to determine type and extent of necessary repairs.
You will fit and install parts, such as pistons, valves, bearinqs, qears and cylinders, to appropriate tolerances and makes changes or modifications in accordance with specifications and guidelines.
You will independently perform preventive maintenance and services on various complex electrical devices, equipment and components.
You will repair, modify and replace defective components using the latest techniques in micro soldering.
