To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-12 and GS-13: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: GS-12 and GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-12: Experience in applying generally accepted accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices and cost accounting standards. Experience in auditing financial accounts and records for accuracy, identifying errors or unfavorable trends, and recommending corrections. Experience in evaluating production performance, price structure of products and proposed future prices. Experience working with a complex accounting program which includes, but not limited to Fund Accounting, Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Accrual Accounting and Payroll Accounting. GS-13: Experience in applying extensive knowledge of accounting and cost principles, techniques, and methods in a government setting. Experience that demonstrates knowledge of the analytical management and problem solving techniques utilized in evaluating the effectiveness of a financial management program. Experience in analyzing a business group operation specifically in the areas of production performance and inventory evaluation, price structure and proposed future prices. Experience in providing guidance and technical support in accounting and inventory/property management on unusual and complicated issues such as product line start-up, factory opening/closing, etc. Experience in maintaining a complex accounting program which includes, but not limited to Fund Accounting, Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Accrual Accounting and Payroll Accounting. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. Serves as field financial administrator for field accounting operations which can include numerous factories, and are responsible for advising, analyzing, monitoring, and assisting in all aspects of financial, costing, managerial, property and warehouse management. Reviews, analyzes and monitors the business operations which include all phases of accounting, shipping, disbursement, stores, construction, budget, personnel and training and the coordination of these activities with production efforts and overall policies for training and rehabilitating inmates. Continuously audits the financial accounts and records of assigned field locations for accuracy and form of presentation through required monthly reports, special reports, and trend analysis of the data. Identifies errors or unfavorable trends to the Warden and appropriate corporate staff, and coordinates corrections with the Field Business Office staff. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
