To qualify for a GS-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying techniques and methods needed to abate environmental discharges, emissions, and prevent pollution. Experience with methods, facilities, equipment, materials, systems, and utility systems associated with shipbuilding and the maintenance/repair of nuclear and non-nuclear ships to provide technical input to the preparation and review of plans and specifications affecting environmental discharges and pollution prevention. Experience with production practices (shop/shipyard) and environmental laws/regulations/objectives concerning pollution prevention and environmental compliance as they relate to the overall mission, functions, equipment, and facilities of a major naval shipyard industrial operation. Experience with the substantive (i.e., technical) and procedural (i.e., permits) requirements of environmental laws and regulations issued under such environmental laws as the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Low-Level Mixed Waste (LLMW); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Pollution Prevention Act (PPA); Emergency Planning and Community Right-to­-Know Act (EPCRA); Clean Water Act (CWA) and Clean Air Act (CM). You will direct, control, monitor, interpret and seek resolution to matters pertaining to the effective planning and conduct of Environmental and safety programs.
You will provide guidance to other Environmental Protection Specialists, environmental and safety personnel in performing a full range of duties required to maintain command-wide compliance with hazardous materials and waste management laws.
You will serve as the lead technical expert in specialized areas related to environmental issues for SERMC.
You will research and implement the latest changes/developments in the environmental and safety laws and regulation as they apply to SERMC responsibilities.
You will act as the Division Head's representative when required, advising top management and staff.
You will provide leadership and guidance to other environmental and safety personnel on internal environmental and safety policies and processes to follow in the effective implementation of environmental and safety oversight functions.
