You must meet the Basic Requirements and the Specialized Experience to qualify for the Division Chief, Artificial Intelligence, as described below. Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. AND Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, in the Federal Service. For GS-15 : Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-14 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must meet 3 of the 5 statements below to be found qualified. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-15 includes: Experience with leading large, multidisciplinary technical teams and enterprise programs to deliver complex AI, cloud, IT modernization, and enterprise technology solutions. Experience with establishing and overseeing enterprise AI governance, including policies, standards, intake, prioritization, risk reviews, lifecycle monitoring, compliance tracking, and responsible AI controls. Experience with directing AI and emerging technology initiatives from strategy through operational adoption, including prototyping, pilots, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management on modern cloud platforms. Experience with serving as a technical subject-matter expert in AI/ML, generative AI, cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, data ecosystems, automation, and modern engineering practices. Experience with translating mission, policy, legal, cybersecurity, privacy, data, and business requirements into technical execution through standards, architecture roadmaps, implementation plans, governance controls, and cloud-native solutions using APIs, microservices, DevSecOps, MLOps/LLMOps, secure SDLC, automation, and advanced data engineering.

The position may be located in any of the following cities: Washington D.C, Dallas, TX; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA and Philadelphia, PA. For detailed office locations, please refer to the DOL offices. The advertised salary reflects the minimum and maximum pay for the listed locations. Upon selection, the salary will be set in accordance with the selectee's assigned duty location. The primary purpose of the position is to lead and manage enterprise-wide technology initiatives that advance organizational effectiveness, improve IT services, and support mission delivery. The position reports to the Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence, Directorate of Technology, Innovation and Engineering. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Supervise and manage IT teams to improve and develop technology decisions and enterprise architecture. Plan work, set priorities, prepare schedules, and assign tasks based on complexity and employee capabilities. Develop performance standards, evaluate employee work, and provide guidance on work and administrative matters. Serve as a key advisor to the Division Director on short- and long-range technology goals. Benchmark operations to assess efficiency and identify opportunities to improve enterprise-level systems. Measure, rank, and prioritize programs and projects and map processes to ensure integration and continuity. Design and implement secure and resilient technology architectures to meet current and future IT requirements. Document enterprise architecture infrastructure using appropriate modeling techniques. Oversee development and implementation of AI management policies and procedures ensuring compliance with federal regulations. Evaluate AI projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
