You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Experience assisting in directing or providing management oversight of housing and community or economic development programs; AND Experience managing the development or administration of grant programs designed to improve the economic, physical, and social conditions of persons living in poverty; AND Experience managing collaborations with Federal, State, and local officials and organizations regarding housing, economic and community development issues and resolving controversial projects. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

This position is located in the Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD). CPD seeks to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. The primary means toward this end is the development of partnerships among all levels of government and the private sector, including for-profit and non-profit organizations. As a/an Deputy Director, you will: Assist the Office Director in ensuring evaluations of field office performances in implementing and managing CPD programs and functions, including monitoring of field office and program participants, to verify that statutory requirements and program policies are being implemented. Act on complaints received by the Secretary or the Assistant Secretary and assists the Office Director with coordination of their disposition with other elements of the Department, both in Headquarters and the field. Assist the Office Director in ensuring the management and administration of CPD's programs in the field and the execution of the Department's plans and priorities at the field level, distribution of field staff, staff development and field organization. Assist the Office Director in representing CPD Field Directors in the resolution of issues with Headquarters and other HUD Headquarters offices.
